Product useful as exact replacement for existing anode of same thread size or for heaters with larger anode fittings by adding a black or galvanized metal step-up transition fitting(s) from the hardware store. If your heater has as dual top and side water connections and you use the side connections you may put the unused top hot water outlet into service as an additional anode fitting as well. You may not use the cold water outlet in this manner as it has an inner pipe extending inside the heater to direct cold water to the bottom and would cover the anode if placed here.
