Description
Superior No. 950 is a Petrolatum-based soldering paste that contains a Rosin and organic acid activator. The Rosin helps protect the solder joint against corrosive attack, and the paste form insures that the flux stays put until soldering. Unlike many paste fluxes, the No. 950 does not contain any Zinc Chloride or Ammonium Chloride, thus making it a safe and effective choice for electrical and electronic applications.
Superior No. 950 is most effective in soldering copper in bare or tinned form. It is employed mainly in electrical and electronic applications. (No. 950 is available in 2-oz “hockey puck” jars, 1-lb. cans, and in 5-lb., 20-lb. and 40-lb. pails.) This flux has a two (2) year shelf life.
Instructions for Flux No 950:
1. Clear surface to be soldered. Remove dirt, rust, grease, paint, etc. with sandpaper, wire brush, steel wool, etc. Proceed once clean metal is visible.
2. Brush FLUX onto all surfaces to be soldered. Fluxing is critical. Solder will not bond without FLUX.
3. Apply heat. Bring to melting temperature. Apply solder. Remove heat. Allow to cool. Remove residue with rag.
