Description

Sold in 5 pound ingots

Ingots are approximately 8-3/4" x 1" x 2" and weigh 5 pounds (+/- .25). This alloy is 16 parts of lead and one part of tin (94% lead, 6% tin). The Brinell Hardness scale of 16 to 1 is approximately 11.

The blend has been the standard blackpowder cartridge alloy since the .45-70 Government Cartridge was first loaded in 1873. It is also popular with many of today's Cowboy Action Shooters.

Works wonderfully in my Shiloh Sharps 45-70. Only thing I found that doesn't lead barrel Would highly recommend.

    Great Alloy

Clean alloy, minimal to no slag. Casts amazing bullets for my ole Model 1873 Springfield Trapdoor made in 1883. They load up great and shoot great. Good performance and good stability and they hold together quite well. Seems to be the best alloy in my experience for this rifle. Rotometals has been my go to source for anything casting metals for a while now! No complaints here!

    Great Product

I use this to make fishing weights instead of pure lead. The additional tin makes the material substantially harder. I cast brass rings into my molds and when catching large grouper or snapper, the rings would pull over time with pure lead. Not with this material. They have held strong over a full snapper season and I am more than satisfied with the change.

    Exactly as described

I am new to casting boolits and during the last year it has been rough seeing price gouging and hoarding. I wanted to buy a great product at a fair price. Not only did I get that buying here I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw the fair price for shipping too! I am bragging about RotoMetals everywhere I can and to everyone that will listen. Thank you for the product quality, price mark, shipping and communication!
